- Ainkaboot Press Release
- OSS Application Focus on Blender
- KlustOS Feature Focus - DrQueue
- White paper release
In the newsletter next month:
- We will present a comparison of various open source render engines. Their relative speeds and features and compare them with some proprietary engines. As well as analysing their suitability for use on distributed render farms.
- More KlustOS Features - Message Passing Interface (MPI), a quick look at using MPI for modelling and simulation.
Exciting times are ahead for Ainkaboot, all systems are now go, and following a flurry of development activity, KlustOS and Octimod are now available to the general public.
Mid October Ainkaboot made a press release announcing the official launch of the Octimod platform.
17/10/2006 - Ainkaboot Raises the Bar for High Density Computing
Ainkaboot Octimod Systems increase density and efficiency for applications in high performance and high availability computing.
London, UK, 17th October 2006 - Ainkaboot Ltd, a specialist in high performance and high availability operating systems and hardware, today unveiled the Octimod hardware platform.
Open Source Software Application Focus
During October our developers have been focusing on providing demonstration material for Ainkaboot KlustOS as a suitable operating system for distributed rendering. Testing and implementing numerous open source and proprietary rendering engines. A short demonstration video is now available as well as the files used to design and render the animation.
Ainkaboot selected Blender a powerful open source cross-platform 3D modelling and animation application to develop the animation which illustrated intensive computations to determine the light paths and visual effects to complete the animation.
Ainkaboot sees render farms as a suitable use for clusters and encourages more widespread use of clusters in developing animation. Significant quantities of time can be saved through the use of clusters in intensive graphics applications. Useful across the whole range of visual effects, especially useful for photorealistic and lengthy animations, it allows the development team to get an overview of the project.
The files used and further information on the project is available on the Blender Demo section of the website.
KlustOS Feature Focus - DrQueue
Our developers have been hard at work preparing KlustOS and expanding it's functionality and features. The latest addition is DrQueue, an open source project released under the GPL which focuses on providing queueing and scheduling functionality for HPC clusters, specifically designed with distributed rendering projects in mind, DrQueue is capable of distributing any scipt-able processes.
DrQueue is totally cross platform, capable of integrating into any existing setup, featuring a monitor client for Windows, MacOS, Linux and Irix, in addition to a web front end.

White Paper release - What is Clustering and how High Performance Computing impacts on Business?
SummaryThis paper provides a basic introduction to Clustering technology, explaining the underlying concepts and examining example applications. Then discuss the design principles and issues associated with the adoption of clustering, before introducing the way Ainkaboot hopes to simplify widespread adoption of clusters.
Clustering WhitepaperThe paper is suitable for anyone with a good understanding of computing technology and terminology and is intended to provide information to help better understand the concept of clustering.
Thank you,
The Ainkaboot Team
